Don’t miss this issue of The Begonian!.

“In 1955, the International Society for Horticultural Science (ISHS) appointed The American Begonia Society as the International Cultivar Registration Authority (ICRA) for the genus Begonia. Registering cultivars through ABS is a way to avoid ‘New Begonia Chaos’” ABS website (https://www.begonias.org/cultivar-preservation/cultivar-registration/).  In this issue of The Begonian, Begonia ‘MacDaddy’- Official International Registration #1174, and the most recently registered- is featured on page 212 along with five other new listings.

  • Researchers, the Philippine Taxonomic Initiative (PTI), have located two new Begonia More than 160 species of Begonia reside in the Philippines. Turn to page 228 for a look at Begonia akaw and Begonia masilig.
  • Entering a judged Begonia show can be a little intimidating. Doug Byrom offers suggestions and encouragement to anyone considering exhibiting their plants starting on page 236.
