Increasing membership and keeping your members interested go hand in hand. Without interesting topics and events to keep members engaged what’s the point in getting together. Many ideas for engagement can be found in our Membership Recruiting and Retention categories. Here we’ll concentrate on recruiting new members and communication platforms for your branch.

Your branch membership is your best resource. Getting them involved will give them a sense of ownership and community. You’ll need to identify their individual strengths and abilities and get them involved in helping make your branch the best it can be.

Ascertaining needs and wants

Different branches and members will have different ideas of what they want in a branch. It’s important to know why they have joined your branch and what they want out of it. Here are several ideas. These also include how membership can get involved in committee work and how you can identify potential leaders in your group. Change is good and your branch are your members.

        1. Increasing your social media footprint.

Interesting Topics & Events

What does your membership want from your branch? It’s important to continually poll and survey your members for new ideas and topics. Keeping your material fresh and offering tutorials covering both Begonia 101 for new hobbyists as well as more advanced topics is also important. Perhaps you can ask new members what they are interested in learning or hearing about. Polling membership or giving them a survey is also productive. Don’t forget to ask them what their strengths are, how they can help, what they’d like to help with. This is your opportunity to recruit members to fill out committees and give back to their club.

We’ve designed several topics and workshops for your use. Go to the Resource “TOPICS, WORKSHOPS, SHOWS & EVENTS” to view these options.
