Mabel Corwin Branch

The Mabel Corwin Branch meets on the 2nd Sunday of the month at the Encinitas Community Center. Meetings begin at 1:30PM and feature a speaker, member show and tell, "everybody wins" plant raffle, and refreshments. This month’s speaker is one of our branch’s favorite guests, Gisele Shoniger from Kellogg Garden Products.  She always has interesting new products, fertilizers, mulches and potting mixes to talk about.  It’s always exciting to see what’s new from Kellogg and if you haven’t met Gisele yet you will want to come to meet such a passionate gardener.

San Francisco Branch

San Francisco Branch meets on the first Wednesday of the month except January. The meetings start at 8:00 P. M. and adjourn around 10:00 P. M. after dessert and coffee. We meet in the Strybing Building that is on the corner of Lincoln and 9th Ave. in Golden Gate Park. There is parking in the rear of the building, and you enter that from Lincoln Street.

Florida

Begonia Society of Tampa Bay

The Begonia Society of Tampa Bay meets at 10:30am the 4th Saturday of each month (except for November and December) at the Famous Tate Distribution Center, 6401 N. 54th St., Tampa, 33610. Meetings typically include an informative program, society business, a plant raffle and light refreshments. Visitors and guests are always welcome. First time guests receive a free begonia. 

The Begonia Society of Tampa Bay is holding their second annual judged show and sale on Saturday, March 15, from 9 - 3. It will be held at the Woodmont Clubhouse, 415 Woodmont Dr, Temple Terrace, FL.
This is being held in conjunction with the Temple Terrace Garden Club's annual Spring Market, held in Woodmont Park, immediately next door to the clubhouse. The market will have vendors selling plants, fruits & veggies, art, crafts, tool sharpening, lectures, food, etc. Admission and parking are free.

Palm Beaches Branch

The Begonia Society of the Palm Beaches meets the second Monday of each month in the Mounts Auditorium at 531 N. Military Trail, West Palm Beach. There is ample paved parking.

Plant raffles and exchanges, information, official society business, refreshments and a guest program are offered starting at 7 p.m. Guest program starts between 7:30-8 pm and meetings adjourn typically between 8:45-9:15 pm.

Pennsylvania

Delaware Valley Branch

We meet six times per year, depending upon the program, either at Meadowbrook Farms or a nearby library. Both are in the Jenkintown/ Abington area which is the southeastern part of Pennsylvania.

The meetings are currently scheduled for 10 am to 12 noon on the first Saturday of the following months: September; November; January; February; April and June.

Our programs are educational in that we have special speakers, discussions on growing and propagation of begonias, plus workshops.

January 2008 meeting - Plant Of The Month B. dregei

Saturday, January 5, 2008 - 10 a.m. to noon; open to the public

Discussion on how to identify different varieties within this type of semi tuberous begonia. Attendees will receive a starter plant and it will be used as a challenge to the growers. At a future date the growers will have a better opportunity to identify their mystery plant once it begins to mature and start showing flowers.

Looking for a houseplant that requires little care, thrives in low-light conditions, and adds visual interest to a room? The answer is the fern, which has foliage ranging in appearance from delicate to dramatic, depending on plant family. Virginia Page who grows ferns for commercial growers will speak.

Alamo Branch

The Alamo Branch of the American Begonia Society will meet on November 17, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church 1018 E. Grayson.  In preparation for the 2008 ABS National Convention, Lou Dyess will present a program on "Grooming Your Plants for Show."  For information or directions call Connie Saenz at (210) 681-4062.
