The Begonian - Volume 71

January/February 2004

Charles Jaros sends us this photo if his B. platanifolia. Look at that lush Florida growth!

March/April 2004

Here is the growing wonderland at Hi-Mark Nursery in a photo taken February 2, 2002 by Iris Bird.

May/June 2004

Look at the gorgeous B. 'Pink Minx', a hybrid by Kit Jeans Mounger (B. aconitifolia x B. 0062) grown by Bob Koehler that Mary Bucholtz found in her Florida travels.

Before you in this issue are grand adventures both geographic and scientific. First, Thelma O'reilly gives us a glimpse of what we will see at this summer's California convention, then we follow Mary Bucholtz on her travels north and south before we enter the new world of genetic research with Laura Forrest. Back to the car to join Rekha Morris in her further adventures in Mexico. Then we go and have a cool drink with Bill Claybaugh in his shade house in Houston. Who needs a travel agent when they have the Begonian?

July/August 2004

Doug Pridgen captured this B. 'Carribean Corsair' grown by Joyce Pridgen and hybridized by Tim Anderson. What a beauty!

September/October 2004

We haven't heard from Roberto Brin in some time, but he has been busy hybridizing in Panama. Here is his new cultivar B. 'Agnes Brin'.

November/December 2004

Read about Ruby Lenert's holiday tree photographed by Tom Keepin

ABS's 2004 Convention hosted by San Diego has come and gone. Memories we will long hold can only be sketched in this issue. This is also the annual Holiday Greeting edition which is brought to our members largely through the contributions of those shown on page 205. This issue therefore serves as a double tribute to our wonderful members first, to those who go all out to bring us outstanding annual events in which we can all take pride and second, to those who dig deep to contribute funds to make it possible to continue bringing bimonthly issues of the Begonian.

Only a small sampling of the information published in The Begonian is available here. Join the ABS and receive the Begonian bi-monthly as well as other member benefits.
